I am either extremely unlucky or extremely allergic because the evening we were in Dijon my skin erupted into about 40 extremely itchy and very painful lumps. I’ve now had them for 2 miserable days and although I’ve seen 2 pharmists (no English) they seem to be getting worse.
I thought you would like a pretty pic of some…
Yesterday, Tuesday August 20th, we picked up a rental car from Europcar in Dijon and set the GPS to Chitry-les-Mains which was a couple of hours drive. We wanted to check out a boat we are interested in which is moored there.
The scenery is just beautiful here with vines, maize and sunflowers as far as the eye can see. We set the GPS to take us on the roads away from the main traffic and through very rural scenery.
Once we arrived we had a chat to Steve the British guy who runs the marina and had a good look at the boat then decided to head back the way we came to stay the night at St Jean-de-Losne. That drive was about three hours.
We are staying here at the Auberge de la Marine where Madame very kindly wrote down the words for bed bugs so I I could ask for more help at the pharmacie here. I now have two kinds of creme, some gel, and a new kind of antihistamine. Walking for more than a few minutes is really painful and the heat isn’t helping. So I’m laid up here while we take quick looks at at a couple of other boats and then back to our room to put my feet up and roll cold cans of beer from the minibar onto my arms, legs and back trying to cool the swelling down.
We think it was bed bugs from the overnight train and we are both concerned our weeks trip on the boat, with all the lock work, is going to be a bit miserable. Fingers crossed some of these pills work magic!
