A spot of lunch, peut-être?

…and for our next course?
I feel a bit mean now.

But that never stopped me.

This dude is way too pretty to eat.

You can swim but you can’t hide. Stay still for too long and the French will have you in a pan, add a little butter and cream , a squeeze of lemon, et Voila! Le dîner is served!
Thats enough of our edible friends. Here are some others we met along the way…and didn’t eat…

Who doesn’t love a donkey. You just want to em-BRAY-s them.

Swans are everywhere on the Seille River. By far the most common bird we saw. And little scary sometimes too.

This is a very intelligent cat. Perfect spot for a wee rest. And safe!

These guys were hanging out in the moat around Besançon citadel. As you do.

This dude just woke up. He had a bit of a lie-in. Geddit? Lion? Anyone?
And now for the insect world…no spider pics though…

Creepy

Quite pretty though.

Hopefully this guy…

…will follow this rule!
And now for my favourite of all the wildlife we met. I just love the look on his face. I want to call him Fred.

Fred can say so much with just one look.
That concludes my pictorial on the fauna of France. Hope you enjoyed it. Another post coming soon. See you then…

About khodges2013
Alan and I divide our time between our apartment in Christchurch, New Zealand, and our 11.5m Dutch Cruiser, Silver Fern, on the canals in France. We started out hiring and eventually bought our boat in 2014. The two summers lifestyle is wonderful and we feel very lucky!
Mmmm duck…… (Cue salivating noises a la Homer Simpson)

Hmmm…duck pancakes with hoisan sauce…duck a la orange…confit duck…no wonder there are more swans than ducks. I hear swan tastes horrible.

Just started reading Clarissa Dixon-Wright’s book “Rifling through My Drawers” (deceased barrister, cook, cookery and autobiography writer) who said swan tasted rather “fishy and greasy” – so doesn’t sound very appetising does it!

Ah no! Does not sounds like something I want to eat either 🙂 Thanks for reading the blog, Carol. I look forward to meeting up next month!
