Plans, plans, plans!
We’ve been making loads of plans, booking flights and trains, hotels and apartments. We are almost ready to fly off to Europe again. Daylight saving started here in New Zealand today and Autumn is in the air, although it’s going to be a mild 25° in Christchurch which is such a beautiful temperature, especially for April.
Still, we are heading off at the beginning of May, flying Singapore Airlines again. That direct Christchurch to Singapore is a great flight and the crew are always charming and helpful. This year we are flying on to Munich rather than Paris and the stopover is only five and a half hours which is sheer luxury. Onwards to Munich for the weekend to sleep off the jetlag before catching a train to the capital of Hungary, Budapest, where we are looking forward to visiting an ex-Eva Airlines friend we lived next to in Taiwan.
A few days in Budapest then I’ve booked a Hungarian train that goes through Bratislava, Slovakia and on to Prague in the Czech Republic where we’ve booked an Airbnb apartment. This will be our first time using Airbnb where you stay in someone’s house or apartment, in our case an apartment right in the old part of Prague. We are really looking forward to that.
After 5 days we are catching an Easyjet flight to London, renting a car and driving down to Cornwall where we will be house and pet sitting for 2-3 weeks. Again it is our first time housesitting and we are really looking forward to having some animals around again. Lots of lovely walks and a little sightseeing in the area. Also catching up with family.
Ok, so after that we have not booked anything but the plan is to head to France, possibly flying out of Bristol, to the boat which is on the hard at the moment in Auxerre, Burgundy. Fingers crossed Silver Fern will have a nice new paint job and some mechanical bits fixed and we will be ready to head out, in which direction we haven’t yet decided. Which ever direction we do go, it will be slow!
Who else is planning their next holiday? Where are you off to?
Our trip will look something like this…
Thanks for both exciting and depressing me Karen! Excited for the two of you embarking on such a fantastic trip and depressed that we are not going too!

Finally,,,You Kiwi’s are back with us. Been waiting all winter for your return. Mary and I celebrated our 50th in the UK and Scotland. Took our daughter with us and spent the first week on a canal boat in Southwest UK. Kept thinking about the adventures of Hodges. Our canal was built in 1771 and I had the best ‘lock wenches’ there was. Cheers,Lee.
