Autumn is here in New Zealand although you wouldn’t know it by the weather! The colours in Christchurch’s Hagley Park and the Botanic Gardens are spectacular. But Alan and I are off to France on Sunday for our next adventure. We are flying into Paris via Singapore on Singapore airlines as we usually do and, due to the ongoing train strikes all over France, we decided to book a rental car (Europcar) straight after arriving and head directly to St Jean de Losne where our boat is moored rather than throw ourselves into the chaos that no doubt has ensued throughout this very long ‘grève’. Aptly named. There will be some grief I am sure! The rolling strikes are set to continue until at least June and Air France are joining in the fun as well. On the positive side they have published all the dates they are striking in advance which is very courteous and well mannered!
This year we have no set plans but we’re loosely thinking of heading the boat northwards up the Petit Saone towards Nancy. But who knows, I’ll keep you posted!
On the home front we have rented out our apartment until at least January and are buying a mobile home so when we come home in October we can continue the adventures in our own back yard. Gradually we have reduced our living space from a large 4 bedroom home on a 65 acre deer farm to a 170sqm townhouse to a 80sqm apartment, an 11.5m (can’t forget the .5) boat and soon a 7.5m campervan. I feel like we are right on trend with our tiny homes! It should be a laugh 🙂
So that’s us for now. I’ll be writing about our travels and experiences as usual so I hope you will follow along and enjoy the ride.
À bientôt!
Safe travels and all the best for your next adventure! Xx
